Different approaches to
Digital Smile Designs
There are different approaches to Digital Smile Design (DSD) that can vary depending on the dentist and their specific workflow.
It's important to note that specific approaches may vary among dentists, but the underlying principle of using digital technology for smile analysis, design, and communication remains consistent in DSD.
Digital 3D with physical mockup
Once a digital three dimensional design is created, you may want to have the digital design temporarily transferred into your mouth to better assess the aesthetics and fit. This is sometimes the best way to visualise the final result before you commit to treatment.
3D Digital Design
In a digital three dimensional smile design, intraoral scans of your teeth are also used to create a precise simulation of how each tooth will be shaped in final treatment. This generally is performed in conjunction with our dental ceramists to ensure each tooth can be shaped and contoured for the best aesthetic and functional results. This design generally takes a few days to be generated.
2D Digital Design
In a digital two dimensional smile design, photos of your smile are used to simulate a desired outcome of treatment. This can be designed rapidly and helps you and your dentist to develop your ideal smile within a few minutes.
