What happens at your first check-up & clean?

Thank you for trusting us and booking your first appointment! We are looking forward to meeting you.We understand that seeing someone new and entrusting them to look after your oral health can feel intimidating. We hope the following information helps you understand what to expect a little better.

Your first visit is all about getting to know you and understanding your smile. We don't rush. We take the time to truly listen, assess, and care for you from the very first appointment. It will begin with a thorough examination of your teeth, gums and overall oral health, followed by time spent discussing your dental concerns, issues and goals, because understanding what matters to you is just as important as the clinical side. Photos will be taken, along with X-rays if you haven't had any taken in the past 2 to 3 years, giving us a clear and complete picture of your oral health.

The appointment will finish with a proper professional clean to leave your mouth feeling fresh and well cared for. We've designed it this way so you never feel rushed, and so you leave with a clear understanding of where your dental health is at and what your options are going forward.

1. Meet and Greet

We want to get to know you. We want to hear about your aims and goals for your oral health and we want learn about your past dental history and experiences.

2. Examination

We'll go through a simple examination of your mouth to review the health of your teeth, gums and jaws.

3. Images

We'll take a number of photos and maybe even some x-rays to check beneath the surface. This helps us show you what we're noticing and track how your teeth change over time.

4. Consultation

We'll give you an accurate update on your oral health and highlight any issues to watch if relevant. If you're after treatment options we'll also explain what those are along with the pro's and con's of each option so you can make an informed decision.

5. Clean

We'll give your teeth and gums a professional clean and polish to help keep your mouth healthy and your smile beautiful.

How long will we spend together?

An initial consultation and clean will take approximately 60 minutes. We don't like to rush and we like to take the time to get to know our patients and do thorough good quality work.

How much will it cost?

The price of your visit will depend on a number of factors such as whether it's an emergency, if you require X-ray imaging, or any rebates you get from your private health insurance. For any further clarification on costs please don't hesitate to give us a call.

Emergency Appointments

Emergency conditions are more complex and will be quoted prior to any treatment commencing. An initial consultation to assess the situation is $65.

Private Health Insurance

If you have private health insurance, please bring your insurance card (physical or digital) and we can process insurance claims for you on the spot.

Standard Initial Consult

A standard initial consultation and routine clean will cost $275.

X-Ray Imaging

If you require X-Rays during your visit, these will cost $50 per image. Most patients require 2 X-Rays every 2-3 years.

After being in the same building for over 80 years, we've recently moved to a larger and more modern premises! We're located next to Glenferrie Hotel and Axil Coffee near the corner of Glenferrie Road and Burwood Road - look for the signs, we're on the ground floor right at the front.
