When should my child first see the dentist?

The Australian Dental Association recommends that children first see the dentist at 12 months old. At this stage, children usually have several deciduous (baby) teeth. We generally recommend that for their first visit they attend with a parent who is also having their routine checkup rather than other treatment. This allows us to help your child familiarise with the dental clinic environment.
