What about dental X-rays?

Most modern dental x-rays are perfectly safe to have during pregnancy. We attempt to minimise the radiation dose for all patients through the use of high sensitivity digital sensors which require around half the radiation compared to their traditional film equivalent. We also use positioning rings where possible to minimise the need for additional x-rays to be taken. For dental x-rays taken in the dental surgery, the radiation dose is extremely low and equivalent to an hour outside, or a 6 minutes on an airplane! We respect your option to delay routine x-rays until following pregnancy if you would prefer.
