Does Botox help with jaw pain?
Botox injections in chewing muscles can be used as part of combined management for jaw pain, but is generally not a stand alone treatment. Botox works by reducing the forces that your jaw muscles can create which helps relieve pain from clenching or grinding your teeth. Unfortunately, the effect wears off over time and requires ongoing doses to maintain an effect. We generally recommend a dental splint in combination with any Botox injections for jaw pain.
