Orthodontics - How to get the Perfect Smile

Every week I get to experience first hand what an amazing transformation orthodontics can make to someone’s life. Recently, one patient was open with me about her experiences with bullying because her teeth were crooked and she had ‘fangs’. Little by little I saw her confidence grow and on her last check up she was able to flash her perfectly straight, perfect smile and shared how much her life has changed. She was even confident enough to get a weekend job in a fashion store, where she found herself comfortable and self-assured enough to talk to customers all day.

Here are another 2 ways orthodontic treatments can improve your health:

Decay and Disease become less likely

Crooked and crowded teeth are much harder to clean than straight teeth. Food can get caught in the nooks and crannies, which means plaque builds up leading to decay, gum disease and potential issues that can result in teeth having to be removed. Once orthodontic treatments are employed and teeth are straightened, these issues are resolved.

If you’re a bit longer in the tooth (pardon the pun!) and you’re thinking braces are only for teenagers, think again! Lots of my older patients have helped to keep their teeth and gums in better shape for the long term by using orthodontic work.

Cracks and Damage become less likely

If your crooked teeth are causing a bad bite (i.e. your teeth don’t meet together the way they should) you might experience pain and even premature wear and tear. Orthodontic treatments can fix this and also prevent these issues from escalating in to more expensive issues down the track.

Regardless of your age, if you currently have crooked or crowded teeth, a Hollywood smile could be right around the corner. Plus you get added health benefits and long term cost savings!
