Teeth Maintenance
I don't have any dental problems. Do I need to have my teeth checked?
It’s always great to hear when patient’s don’t have any issues with their teeth, as these problems are usually quite unpleasant! We recommend regular check ups to ensure that you keep your teeth and jaws in the same problem free condition for as long as possible. We hope to be able to detect and fix problems early before they possibly become a painful or expensive condition to treat.
What is Preventative Dentistry?
Preventative dentistry is the practice of caring for your teeth and gums to keep them healthy, and hopefully preventing dental problems in the future. In many situations, tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss are avoidable with proper early treatment. Your oral health has been linked to many general health conditions, as well as being important to maintain healthy diets by eating well and maintaining self esteem.
What does Preventative Dentistry include?
Preventative dentistry involves both treatment and advice provided at the dental clinic, as well as home regimes to ensure we keep your teeth looking and feeling at their best.
Regular dental examinations are important to ensure your teeth and gums are not developing any problems. Dental x-rays every two to three years will help you to catch any problems developing early on, reducing the chance of you needing more involved and costly dental treatment. You may also be suitable to have sealants placed on your teeth to help to reduce the chance of food trapping in your teeth and causing decay over time.
We can discuss your diet and home hygiene routine to ensure that we give your teeth the best possible chance to remain decay and disease free. This includes individualised instruction on how to best clean your teeth at home, such as using manual or electric toothbrushes, floss and other tools which will help you keep your teeth spotless. We can also advise you on which toothpastes or special rinses which may be beneficial to the health of your mouth. We can work together to prevent you from needing unnecessary dental work in the future!
